About The Event
Mindfulness and Grief
Many of us are all too familiar with prolonged grief and it’s long term implication for our mental health, our social circles and our bodies. The layers of oppressive systems, racism, colonization, Covid, riots and transgenerational trauma often leaves us with little options in terms of our wellbeing, often compartmentalizing our wellbeing in terms of what gets dealt with.
This Year ‘Breathworks Mindfulness’ has collaborated with MNPC to provide the critically-acclaimed 8-week course ‘Mindfulness for Health’ (Based on the book by Vidyamala Birch) with a grief overlay.  Many of us have built a great deal of practices and resilience over the years, and mindfulness might seem inaccessible or lack  people of colour to represent us. So, this space is a cohort designed by people of colour for people for colour, with our creative edge and everything that we bring.
This 8-week course is gifted generously by 2 trained teachers from the MNPC community -  William Fley and Zenubia Lardner - and it is the first cohort of its kind, linking mindfulness and grief. In these sessions we will explore the evolution of mindfulness and it’s benefits to people of colour. We will share a range of practices, and create a Grief Space Village  for witnessing grief in a confidential space. You will come away with some simple practices to help you incorporate mindfulness into your daily life, as well as some suggestions for the next steps to take on your journey with mindfulness.
This course is suitable for :
· People of colour needing a closed space
· A refresher or beginner to mindfulness
· Participants who have experienced grief or loss more than  6 months ago.
· Those Going through challenges in life
· Those Experiencing health conditions
· Those experiencing separation and loss
