What is a heart circle?

A heart circle is a form of healing and connection that is generated by a honest and sincere way to be all inclusive, and present to people's path and process. It is offered with a sense of connection to traditions which connect us to our ingrained humanity, our sense of inter-connectedness with the earth, and our journey into the extraordinary. In these gatherings we can connect in ways which are traditional to indigenous cultures, using our life experiences, truths and convictions as our main tool. We can transport into the world of our ancestors, connect with our higher power with a sense of group empowerment through ritual movement and storytelling.

There are four areas where significant work is required in the UK mindfulness sector:

  1. Accessibility  & representation - diversity of teachers, participants and leadership
  2. Translation - finding authentic expression amongst POC and adapting programmes
  3. Healing racial trauma and developing resilience and collective agency amongst POC
  4. The  inner work of social justice, inclusion & allyship
  5. The overarching aim of 'Breathespace' is to explore and support the application of mindfulness to healing racial trauma and developing resilience and collective agency amongst People of colour.
  6. Identify the issues in the area of racial healing and cross-racial engagement that the POC mindfulness practitioner community would most like to discuss and practise with.
