Mindfulness in Action 5-Week Course for People of Colour with Imani Sorhaindo

About the course

This 5-week course is for People of Colour who want to learn more about the key principles of Mindfulness and Meditation from a cultural perspective, and apply practical techniques to assist in day to day living. The course will assist with your experiences of racism and micro-aggression in the workplace or community and is a safe and supportive environment for people of colour to gain self-awareness, to heal from past and current forms of oppression and discrimination towards personal transformation.

Past participants came on the course for many reasons such as: To gain insight, to reduce tension, develop patience, to reduce anxiety, for healing and to renew their commitment towards self-development, to re-enforce a Mindfulness routine, to develop more spiritual awareness, to assist their team of counsellors and therapists, to feel more grounded, internally strong and motivated.

This introductory course assists participants to reduce levels of heightened anxiety and tension when dealing with personal challenges, external factors/events and throughout the lockdown. You will learn how to apply a range of life-enhancing techniques, gain insight and clarity, become more resilient, cope better and improve your well-being through self-awareness

An Introduction to the Vagus (Soul) Nerve

Being Present - Lower Abdominal Breathing

Principles and Virtues of Mindfulness - Positionality

Liberation from Suppression and Oppressive Thinking

Non-Hankering Techniques and Cultivating Gratitude

'Parking' Exercise to reduce the 'survival' response

Guided Imagery and Light Energy with Mindfulness Meditation

A High Vibrational You

Please bring a notebook and pen with you for the sessions, and ideally be seated in an upright chair. Please wear loose and comfortable clothing to assist you when undertaking the breathing activities.

After the course: You will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the course . (At least 4 of the sessions will need to be completed for certificate).

About the Trainer - Imani Sorhaindo

Imani is a qualified Holistic Health Practitioner, Author, Life-Coach and Trainer specialising in Meditation, Mindfulness, Guided Imagery, Acupressure, and Energy Balancing. Her work also specialises in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

Much of my current work is centred around online one to one leadership coaching, lifestyle coaching, womb-wellness, fibroid support, as well as Mindful living, Breathwork and Energy work group facilitation.
