An assessable five Week course to gain insight, awareness and resilience in these challenging times.
This 5-week course is for people who want to learn more about the key principles of Mindfulness and Meditation, and apply practical techniques to assist in your day to day life. A safe and supportive environment for people of colour to gain self-awareness and heal from past and current forms of oppression and discrimination towards personal transformation.
This introductory course assists participants to reduce levels of heightened anxiety and tension when dealing with personal challenges, external factors/events and throughout the lockdown. You will learn how to apply a range of life-enhancing techniques, gain insight and clarity, become more resilient, cope better and improve your well-being through self-awareness
During the five weeks you can expect:
Week 1. Understanding Mindfulness and its Health and Well-Being Benefits
Cultural Perspectives in Mindfulness
Week 2 .An Introduction to the Vagus (Soul) Nerve
Present Being - Lower Abdominal Breathing
Principles and Virtues of Mindfulness
Week 3 . Liberation from Suppression and Oppressive Thinking
Non-Hankering Techniques and Cultivating Gratitude
Week 4. Guided Imagery and Light Energy with Mindfulness Meditation
The Stress response – Fight, Flight or Freeze
Week 5 . A High Vibrational You
Personal Intentions for self development: To gain insight, to reduce tension, develop patience, to reduce anxiety, for healing and to renew their commitment towards self-development, to re-enforce a Mindfulness routine, to develop more spiritual awareness, to assist their team of counsellors and therapists, to feel more grounded, internally strong and motivated.
- Please bring a notebook and pen with you for the sessions, and ideally be seated in an upright chair.
- Please wear loose and comfortable clothing to assist you when undertaking the breathing activities.
- Arrive and leave on time
- Practice in between session and check in if needed

Imani is a program director at the Mindfulness Network For People Of Colour (MNPC) a lead teacher and spiritual advisor. In addition to the rich engagement with the vastness of 20 years of a student of Kametic way of life she is a grandmother autour and a pioneer, part of the growing infrastructure of the British Mindfulness teachers of colour, or the first wave of generation of POC Mindfulness teachers.
