Mark Leonard

MNPC Advisor

Mark has developed a 'social mindfulness' training, which combines social process, somatic awareness, theoretical explanation, and the cognitive principles of mindfulness meditation. He played a key role in establishing the Oxford Mindfulness Centre and led its workplace project. Taking learnings from this experience, he developed a new programme, Mindfulness-Based Organisational Education (MBOE) designed to have a systemic impact on staff wellbeing and organisational culture for the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. MBOE is now recognised by the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches and the Dutch Mindfulness Teachers’ Association as a new class of Mindfulness-Based Programmes (MBPs) with short, mindfulness meditations. This development creates opportunities for others to develop new short MBPs for non-therapeutic contexts.
